01. How these terms apply
These terms explain the use of Caption Muse and this website. By using them, you agree to follow these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you cannot legally agree on your own, a parent or guardian must review and authorize your use and any purchases.
The App Store app license is governed by Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement. These terms supplement that agreement with app-specific information; they do not replace it or reduce any mandatory consumer rights. Apple’s purchase terms also apply to App Store transactions.
02. The app and its features
Caption Muse provides tools for video editing, captions, templates, teleprompter scripts, recording, and exports. Some tools require Pro access. Feature availability and performance depend on the app version, device, operating system, language, permissions, storage, and third-party service availability.
The app’s current interface and purchase screen describe the features and plans available to you. Website examples illustrate creative possibilities and do not guarantee identical output on every device or access to every feature under every plan.
03. Your content and permissions
You retain your rights in the videos, audio, images, text, and other content you import or create. You authorize the processing needed to carry out your choices, such as editing, rendering, transcription, saving, sharing, or optional sync. These terms do not transfer ownership of your content to Caption Muse.
You are responsible for having the rights, permissions, and consents needed to record people and to use, edit, transcribe, or share material. This includes copyright, music licensing, image and voice rights, privacy, and any required consent for children’s content. A template or editing tool does not grant rights to third-party material you add.
04. Responsible use
Use the app and website lawfully. Do not use them to infringe intellectual property or privacy rights, create unlawful material, impersonate someone deceptively, harass others, or bypass purchase verification or security controls.
You must follow the applicable app license and any license notices for bundled or third-party assets. Do not redistribute the app, templates, or included assets as a competing standalone asset library unless the relevant license permits it. Nothing here restricts uses that applicable law or an applicable open-source license expressly allows.
05. Review before you publish
Automatic captions, timing, background removal, effects, and exports can contain errors or artifacts. Review spelling, names, translations you add, timing, layout, audio, and the final exported file before publishing or relying on a result.
Speech recognition is not a certified transcript service. The app does not promise that an output is accurate, suitable for a particular audience, or cleared for publication. You decide whether the result is appropriate for your intended use.
06. Pro purchases and subscriptions
Pro may be offered through subscriptions or a one-time purchase, depending on the current App Store offering. The purchase screen and Apple confirmation show the actual price, currency, billing period, available benefits, and any introductory offer. Do not assume a trial or a particular plan is available unless it is shown for your purchase.
For auto-renewing subscriptions, Apple charges the Apple account used to purchase and manages renewal according to the terms shown at checkout. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple account’s subscription settings. See Apple’s cancellation instructions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Use Restore Purchases in the app with the Apple account associated with the purchase to recover eligible Pro access. Restoration remains subject to Apple’s transaction records and the entitlement associated with the purchase. Refund requests for App Store payments are handled by Apple at Report a Problem, subject to applicable rights and Apple’s process.
Access to subscription features may end when the entitlement expires or is refunded or revoked. Changes to subscription pricing or billing are handled under the applicable App Store rules and any required notices.
07. Local work, sync, and backups
Keep independent copies of important original media and finished work. Projects and exports may be affected by device loss, insufficient storage, file deletion, software errors, incompatible changes, or sync conflicts.
Optional iCloud sync is off by default and requires an eligible Pro entitlement. It uses your iCloud account and available storage. Sync can be delayed or interrupted and is not a guarantee of backup or recovery.
Cloud sync keeps revisions and media objects. Deleting a project records a synchronized deletion; it does not permanently purge every historical cloud copy. Turning sync off leaves local and existing cloud data in place. Manage separate exports, backups, and iCloud copies through the relevant system controls. The Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
08. Apple and other services
Some features rely on Apple speech recognition, iCloud, the App Store, or RevenueCat. You must comply with the terms applicable to those services. Availability, languages, connectivity, processing, storage limits, and purchase verification may change or be interrupted.
External website links are provided for convenience. Their content and privacy practices are controlled by their providers. Choosing to use an external service may involve data processing described in our Privacy Policy and the provider’s own terms.
09. App and website materials
Caption Muse’s software, interface, branding, website design, and included creative assets are protected by applicable intellectual property laws and relevant licenses. Except for rights expressly granted by the app license or an asset’s license, no ownership rights are transferred to you.
You may use the app’s features and included assets in your own exported projects as permitted by the applicable license. You remain responsible for the rights in any additional material you supply.
10. Availability and legal protections
We aim to keep the app useful and reliable, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation, compatibility with every device or file, error-free output, or the preservation of every project. Subject to mandatory law, the app and website are provided as available. Warranty and liability provisions for the app are governed by its applicable license, including Apple’s Standard EULA.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, limits rights you have under mandatory consumer or privacy law, or removes remedies available under applicable law. Where a statement here conflicts with those rights, your mandatory rights prevail.
11. Updates and applicable rules
We may update app features, supported formats, these terms, or this website. The date above identifies this version of the terms. Material changes affecting an existing paid entitlement or legal rights will be handled with any notice, consent, or remedy required by applicable law and App Store rules.
Use is subject to applicable law and the governing-law provisions of the applicable app license. These supplementary terms do not choose an additional court or jurisdiction or waive any mandatory protection available where you live.
